Enrichment Services

Enrichment Services are programs that provide young people additional educational activities that augment classroom instruction. All programs are designed to help children experience success. Enrichment Services is broken down into two areas arts enrichment and life skills
Arts Enrichment
The Arts are a wonderful tool to get children excited about learning. Individual and collective academic skills and creative expression can be enhanced through the Arts. Arts enrichment workshops are primarily designed for elementary and middle school students. Each of these workshops requires a minimum eight-week commitment. Some of the workshops are:
- Theatre: Students learn all facets of the theatre including stage direction, voice and diction, and script reading/writing
- Dance: Participants learn dance steps and choregraphy of dances that include modern, hip-hop, and traditional African
- Visual Art: Kids really express themselves using a variety of media. These activities help hone in on self expression and explores cultural history.
- Photography: Participants will be exposed to all aspects of photography by exploring the art and science of photgraphy.
- Drumming: Students will learn the basics of West African drumming from the region of Guinea/Mali, West Africa. The program explores the culture of several regions of West Africa through music.

Life Skills
The question was aksed to a wise man, which is better, an A student with bad character or a C student with good character. The answer that was given was character can improve our status on education but education only strengthens a particular character.
Life Skills programs and workshops are designed to help children improve and strengthen their character, morals, conduct, and critical thinking ability. Some of the programs and workshops are:
- Male Mentoring: Young male students between the ages of 10-15 go through and 8-week program. The program touches on topics such as knowledge of self and apt social behaviors.
- Female Mentoring: Young female students between the ages of 10-15 go through an 8-week program. The program touches on topics such as knowledge of self and apt social behaviors.
- Basic Image: Basic image is a 5-week series designed to assist parents and youth of all ages with the development and enhancement of self esteem.
- Teen Challenge: The program is designed to help future leaders identify the current and future needs of Greensboro. Students particiapte in interactive sessions and workshopos addrenssing issues such as education, law enforcement, and local government.
- Group Sessions: These interactive sesions are designed to enhance the student's life skills. All sessions are offered as 1 1/2 hour workshops. The following sessions are available: the African Diaspora, "Who Am I?", Goal Setting, Conflict Resolution, Proper Social Behaviors, Improving the Academics, "Why Am I Responsible?", Taking the Lead, and Proper Male/Female Relationships.
